Voltage Calibration for Series III Pump (Serial numbers A19999 and lower)
- Connect the pump’s inlet port to the solvent bottle using an inlet line and filter.
- Connect a Multimeter to the pressure board with the black lead on TP3 and the red lead on TP5.
- Connect the pump’s outlet port to the Pressure Gauge and shut-off valve.
- Apply power to pump and verify that the Lower Pressure Limit is 0 PSI and the Upper Pressure Limit is at 5000 PSI. If they are not at these values, change them.
- Prime the pump at its Prime/ Purge Valve with the syringe.
- Close the Prime/Purge Valve and open the shut-off valve. Run the pump for a few minutes to prime gauge/valve line.
- With the pump stopped and the Prime/Purge Valve Open and the pump at atmospheric pressure, adjust the P-ZERO trimpot until the Multimeter reads approximately 0.000 volts.
- Close the both the Prime/Purge Valve and the shut-off valve and run the pump at 1.00 ml/min.
- As the pressure readout on the pump approaches 5000 PSI, turn the P-SPAN trimpot counterclockwise to prevent an overpressure fault from stopping the pump. Stop the pump when the pressure gauge reads approximately 4800 PSI.
- Reduce the pressure to exactly 4000 PSI with the Prime/Purge Valve.
- Adjust the P-SPAN trimpot until the voltmeter reads 3.255 volts.
- Vent the pump to atmospheric pressure by slowly opening the Prime/Purge Valve. (A rapid release of pressure will damage the Pulse Damper or Pressure Transducer.)
- Adjust the P-ZERO trimpot if necessary to obtain 0.000 volts. Note: The syringe must be removed from the Prime/Purge Valve to obtain an accurate zero.
- Repeat steps 8 through 13 until no adjustment is required at step 13.
